5 reasons why we don’t need a button to sign up

This is my splash screen and login page for my first portfolio, Uangkoo. I decided not to add a button for users to sign up. It surprised me when my mentor, Muhammad Hadi Lo, told me to remove the signup page. This is the reason why I have to remove it:

1. Made as MVP as possible

The purpose is we want to introduce our product and get feedback asap. So we have to make it be Minimum Viable Product (MVP). MVP means that we have to remove unnecessary things. If we think of some idea to make it perfect, we have to endure it. Not anything in our concept can be used immediately. There’s something that we call “update version”. We can update our apps later, no need to being perfect. Start to take steps, don’t wait any longer.

2. Estimated users who will use it is still 0.01%

When I started to make Uangkoo wireframes, Muhammad Hadi Lo asked me how my marketing technique is and who my target market was. I was a bit confused because I don’t think I have to decide about it early. It turns out, and it affects how you determine which features are in your app.

The marketing technique that I choose is to offer my apps door by door, and obviously, my target market is people around me.

3. It can release it quickly

Although creating a signup page only takes a moment, it also adds to the processing time. Not seen based on the length, but also need to remember that doing it also takes ‘time’. Appreciate the time that we have, because we not spent our lives just for work, right? And if I can get done this so fast and meet some opportunities to get a job, I can apply to the job.

4. Registration can be done manually by the backend

We still have to think that we won’t make this be an MVP. If there was a button for sign up, users could register every time that they want. Although user estimates are still small, why do I have to put the signup process? The backend can do the registration process manually.

5. This is my first portfolio

I need to make some proof of my UX design knowledge. I have to get this portfolio done to bring myself to explore more about UX design.

I guess you just found out about this too? It’s okay. Learn something new is anytime and from anyone. Thank you for bringing yourself here. :)
